General report

I was flying with S/LDR ŁAPKOWSKI who was leading 303 SQDN as top escort to the bombers. We had been watching for the Me 109's to starbord and above us. Near the coast one pair dived down to attack the bombers; and was in turn attacked by S/LDR ŁAPKOWSKI. The second pair then dived to attack the bombers, and I went after them, getting in a short burst at the leader, who broke off and dived away. The second one stayed in a climbing turn to port. I pulled up my nose and gave a short burst with cannon and machine gun from 120/100 yds. I saw the whole of the Me 109's tail unit break off, and the e/a turned on its back and went down like a stone from 7.000 ft.

Total number of rounds fired: 36 cannon, 180 machine.
